Rivers We Fish

The Missouri River Below Holter Dam
This infamous Missouri River below Holter Dam is nestled 40 minutes north of Helena. The town of Craig, MT is the epicenter and fishing hub of this stretch. “The MO” offers an abundance of healthy trout all year long and is a prolific dry fly hatchery that will test the best of any anglers skill. The Missouri is also a great place for beginners and anyone that enjoys catching lots of trout.

The Missouri River Below Hauser Dam
This stretch of the Missouri River, “the land of the giants,” is accessible via Jet Boat only. This section is very beautiful and connected to a large lake system. With that comes an array of trout that on average, tend to be bigger than the lower stretch by Craig. Chances of a big fish is high, but never guaranteed.

The Tributaries of the Missouri River
These are smaller creeks and rivers that flow into the Missouri River near and around the town of Craig. Some are floatable in the spring and early summer, but are mostly great options for wading come summer and fall. Smaller trout on average but very aggressive, with the chance of a big brown trout lingering around. Less crowds is always a plus as well.
